Heatons are contributing towards a greener planet and by being an environmentally efficient supplier, we can offer a number of services that help you to reduce your carbon footprint as well.
Heatons were awarded the ISO:14001 accreditation in 2010.
In the past, companies have been put off by the inflated price of recycled products and have been unable to integrate greener products into their monthly orders. This is no longer the case. Throughout our product catalogue, you’ll notice that a number of our day to day products contain recycled content and the list is growing each year. In addition to this, we can also supply you with our “green” catalogue that only contains recycled and environmentally friendly items.
Recycle Your Used TonersWhen your toners have run out and you need to reorder, let our sales operatives know and our driver will happily collect your empty cartridges for you. We then return them to the manufacturers and all proceeds are donated to charity.
Thanks to your help, Heatons manage to donate in excess of £3,000 to charity last year and we hope to raise even more this year.
Heatons run a satellite tracking system in our entire fleet of vehicles known as 'Greener Fleet'. The Greener Fleet system enables Heatons to view real time, information about our vehicles.
Using the information such as vehicle location and average mpg, we are able to plan our routes as efficiently as possible, thus reducing the time our vans are on the road. This not only ensures that you receive your deliveries in the quickest possible time, but also substantially reduces our carbon footprint.
Information from Greener Fleet & Masternaut is reviewed weekly to ensure that we are as environmentally friendly as possible.
As well as the main areas of environmental operation, Heatons are genuinely committed to reducing our carbon footprint and closely monitor subtle things that can make a big difference over the course of a year. Saving energy also carries with it the added benefit of saving money.
You may not know this but a screen monitor on average will use around 150 watts throughout the day but still uses 4 watts when it’s on standby over night. Over the course of a few years, this will waste electricity to the value of the monitor itself. Certain other equipment left on standby can use up to 70% of normal power consumption at no use.
Switch off lights in empty rooms. It’s a popular myth that it’s cheaper to leave a light on but this is not the case. Look to use daylight where ever possible, it’s free and more pleasant than artificial light.
